Preventing the "aged" look in your new sofa is very easy. One of the first things to keep in mind is placement. Just like your skin, you do not want to place leather in direct sunlight all day. Its fine to be by a window where the sunlight comes thru at times, but direct sunlight for long periods of time can increase the chances of your leather drying out. Keeping some space between your furniture and fireplaces, air conditioning vents and heaters will also help.

Choose a good leather conditioner, dab a small amount on a dry paper towel, and lightly apply it to the surface of the leather. The idea is to cover the entire surface without getting it to moist. Doing this twice a year will greatly increase your leathers odds of looking brand new for years.

     Dust can dry your leather out, and give it a faded look. Dusting your new furniture should become a part of your regular cleaning. Avoid using any chemicals not specifically designed for leather. A micro fiber towel is best, but a paper towel will do. Lightly dust the surface of the leather making sure not to apply to must pressure. Use a small amount of water if needed. It is also important to vacuum the crevices of the furniture. Be very gentle, making sure not to scrape the leather. Putting the leather in a reclined position, and having someone separate the cushions for you can help. Following these steps to prevent dust from building up is very important to keeping your leather in pristine condition.

Let's talk about one of the most modern Ekornes models available, called the Stressless Viva Recliner. (This model replaced the retired Stressless Jazz.). The Stressless Viva has now been discontinued.

The Stressless Jazz Recliner was discontinued in 2016.

Along with the many new models that have been introduced in the past few years, several models have been discontinued. One of our fan favorites, the Stressless Jazz, was also discontinued. This charity helps rescue more than 20 million pounds of fresh food every year across the nation. They have offices in 11 states and operate nationally through partnerships and volunteers. A few weeks ago, the Society of St. Andrew delivered pumpkins to several agencies, churches, and schools that were planning to send the pumpkins home with children and have baked goods brought back to be donated to soup kitchens, shelters, and other agencies. This way hunger relief agencies have loads of fresh-baked goods just in time for the holidays.

Do they make Leather I can order to reupholster only a portion of my Ekornes Chair?

Ekornes' Recliners and Chairs are built to last for many decades. The incredibly sturdy steel frame and high-density memory foam cores are well protected by the 100% Real Top-Grain Leather Upholstery. Without proper care and maintenance at regular intervals, the Leather may begin to age prematurely.

If you find yourself with a worn spot here and there on your Ekornes Recliner, take a deep breath, we can help. You can order new leather made specifically for the piece or area that is beginning to lose its luster. Typically, we find that there are "hot spots" of specific areas that show wear more quickly without proper care and maintenance. These "hot spots" are right where the palms of your hands rest on the armrests and where the back of your head sits against the back/headrest. Without regular cleaning, the oils from your hands and hair can clog the leather pores and cause it to lose its natural elasticity. This can lead to premature aging and unsightly discolored spots.

The most affordable route is to Order Ekornes Cut Leather and then to coordinate a Professional Upholsterer in your local area to do the work of stitching and replacing the worn areas with the fresh leather. 1) First impression- Ordering was a breeze and I was very pleased with the delivery timeline. When it arrived, I had my doubts about whether or not there would be folds or crease lines due to the small dimensions of the box it was packaged in. However, when I got it unwrapped, it began to unfold and take form immediately, and within a few hours, I couldn’t even tell it arrived in a box. 

While the mattress was unfolding, I couldn't help but notice the beautifully-detailed, soft removable covering. I replaced my Scandinavian Sleep System mattress (which cost about 3 times as much as my new 180bed when purchased). I was pretty impressed that the 180bed was as "polished" as my Scandinavian bed that had been produced for many, many years.  I expected to get something nice, but for such an affordable price I had my doubts on how it would compare to some of the other memory foam mattresses I had tried in stores. Those doubts have been put to sleep, so to speak, and I am so glad I invested in my 180 bed!

2) The unboxing- The unboxing of the 180bed was surprisingly easy, and actually somewhat fun! I got a real kick out of watching it grow, almost like those little dinosaur washcloths that expand when you add water to them! Although the website claims it should take a few hours to expand completely, I found myself really having trouble locating any signs that the mattress came in a box after just an hour or so. The top of the 180bed is unbelievably soft, while still providing the support expected from a condensed multi-layer, foam mattress. 

3) First night with the 180 bed- When I first collapsed onto the 180bed, I was overwhelmed with the wonderful “new car” smell it had. It had an aromatic scent that was so much better than I expected from something that came out of a box. I know it sounds weird to be so excited about the smell of a bed, but it really was great! After I got over my excitement of having a fresh smelling new bed, I began to roll around, eventually ending up in a starfish like position, basking in the glorious feel of my new bed. Now I will admit that part of the joy was coming from the fact that my prior bed was a twin size, so all the new space was very welcomed. That aside however, I really was in love with the feel of the mattress. It was extremely soft to the touch, so much so that I was tempted to not even put sheets on it! It was slightly less firm than the Scandinavian Sleep System pillow top memory foam bed I had been using, but still provided plenty of support. I quickly found myself yawning, and ended up cutting my nightly social media binge short and drifting to sleep, phone in hand. Overall I am astonished at how much I love this bed.

4) Conclusion- I would not recommend this mattress for anyone who has to get out of bed early on a consistent basis (did I mention that I'm a college student and still have a bit of control of my morning schedule?). After purchasing my 180bed, I find myself making every excuse possible to hit the snooze button one more time. Even my dog dreads the part of the morning when I have to pull her out of it for a walk. In all honesty, the bed is wonderful. I look forward to going to bed every night, and dread the thought of waking up every morning. For the price (maybe even 2-3 times it), you really cant beat the 180bed!

Let's start with the newly released 2016 models. These items are brand-new, never been seen, releases. They are the Stressless Bliss, Live, Capri, Stressless Viva, Piano, and Peace for the recliners; and the E600 and Stressless Como for the sofas. The Bliss, Live, & Peace are never before seen models. The Viva, Piano and Capri are revisions of previously released models. The Viva is the revised Jazz Recliner. Looking for a Medium or Large Stressless Jazz Recliner? Check out the Viva. The Piano is the revised version of the Blues Recliner. They are retiring the Older "Space Style Bases" that were incredibly familiar with fans of the Jazz and Blues Recliners. Thus, the need arose to create new base choices so those fans can still enjoy their favorite style of Stressless Recliner Chairs. The Capri is the reformed Dream Recliner. They revised the original Ekornes Dream to make the beautiful, new Capri Recliner.

All Sizes in All Recliners

While we are talking about revisions and improvements, let's take a brief pause to recognize a fantastic new step. Ekornes is going to be introducing a Small, Medium, & Large Version of every single one of the recliners. Now you can choose your model, your upholstery, your color, and your size. No longer do you have to settle for a size up or down, you can choose conveniently from a Small, Medium, or Large in every recliner model.

Now let's take a peek at the changes to current models and items. 

New Names

First, many recliners are being re-named to simplify the lineup and standardize the process. All recliner families will be named after their Medium Sized Model. For example, the Magic Family of Recliners has always been known as the Magic Small, Magic Medium, and Magic Large while the Mayfair Family of Recliners was known as the Chelsea (Small), Mayfair (Medium), and Kensington (Large). New Base Options

After its recent release, the BalanceAdapt Technology, found in the Stressless Signature Base, skyrocketed in popularity. It became a fan-favorite in a very short matter of time. Ekornes is proud to begin offering the option to you to choose any Stressless Recliner Model you prefer and customize it with a Signature Base. Just imagine the possibilities! Love the Stressless Mayfair Medium? Add a Signature Base to it and you have an enhanced Stressless Mayfair. What's so special about this Signature Base you ask... Everything. It features polished chrome accents and wood trim. It allows for a gentle rocking motion while seated. It enhances your relaxation by allowing you to recline deeper and lay out into a completely flat 180 degree position when in the "Sleep Mode".

Another exciting Base Change is the addition of the Metro High Back, Metro Low Back, and City High Back to the Stressless Office Category. Looking for a sleek and stylish Stressless Office Chair? Check out the new Metro and City series models.

New Options for Existing Sofas

You can choose to add an additional headrest for your Stressless Metropolitan and Panorama Sofas and Love seats. These will be available per seat and will be incredibly similar to the headrests available for E200 & E300 series sofas. Please chat with a Live Team Member or call 888-486-9463 for more details. You can also now order taller legs for select models of Sofas and Love Seats that utilize the Round Metal and Round Wooden Legs. The Stressless E200, E300, Arion, and Wave Models can all be ordered with legs that add additional height. Each leg upgrade will add 1.25" to the height of the sofa. This means that the first leg upgrade changes the 3.1" legs to 4.3" legs and the second upgrade will take it up to 5.5" legs. This adds approximately the same height advantages as the elevator rings do to the recliners.

Model Discontinuations

Effective 4/30/16, the Vision, Dream, & Spirit Series Recliners will be discontinued. Ekornes' will be ceasing production of these models. So if these are your preferred chairs and you have been holding out, now is the time to buy before they are gone for good. 

Leather/Fabric Discontinuations

As always, there will be a few sad discontinuations to the fabric and leather offerings and some joyful additions effective 4/30/16. The following Paloma Leather Colors will be discontinued: Kitt, Camel, Pearl, Stone, Brandy, Brown, and Mocca. The last day to place an order for these colors will be 4/30/16. The new Paloma Leather Color Choices to be added are: Henna, Funghi, Vanilla, Metal Grey, Beige, Copper, Sparrow Blue, Chestnut, Summer Green (the flag ship color), and Olive.

All Royalin Leather Options will be discontinued and become unavailable after April 2016. The Royalin Grade Leather will be replaced by Noblesse. It's pronounced "Noh-Bleece". This line will be even softer and more luxurious than Royalin, if you can believe it. Several Royalin Colors will be available in Noblesse Grade but there will also be new colors added to the line. Once we receive all of the necessary information, these items will be available for your viewing pleasure at our Ekornes' Leather Informational Page.

There will be a few new stains of wood color for your many base options. Stay tuned for more details.

There will also be several new UltraSuede Color choices. Please remember that UltraSuede is ultra-strong and only available for Ekornes Furniture and Stressless Sofas that can be produced in the U.S. I.e. the Buckingham, E200, E300, Liberty, Panorama, & Wave models. Effective Immediately, all Molli, Terra, & Flora fabrics will be discontinued and unavailable. Unfortunately, these will no longer be in production. 

Clearance Models and Value Pricing

Please note that the Stressless Senator and Governor Recliners are currently discontinued. The color selections are narrowing and the quantities of our Immediate Shipping Inventory are reducing. Don't wait until it's too late! Get your's now. Also important to note that we have received a bit of advance notice about the Stressless President. It is possible that there will be new color offerings for this model, but this has not been confirmed. It is also possible that there will be changes to the pricing as these models leave the "Limited Edition" and "Value" Section and make their way into the regular lineup. Interior Design

You can click the "Interior Design" Tab on the upper right hand side of the page to layout the floor plan and specifics of your room. The "Room Layout" option allows you to select the shape of your room and the "Floorplan" option allows you to customize the digital rendering to the exact measurements and specifications of your home or office. This includes inserting windows and doors.The "Room Elements" option will let you add things like house plants, blinds, end tables, even an old upright piano into the room. To move and adjust these items on your screen, simply click and drag them to the preferred location in the room design.

Products

When you are ready, you can add your soon-to-be recliners and furniture into the room design. Once you have completed your room, including colors and elements, you can add any current Ekornes Stressless Furniture item directly in the room. You can drag, spin, rotate, and place the furniture wherever you prefer. Try moving the item to several places in the room design to choose from multiple options. You can also click the "Play Icon"  on Stressless Recliners and Sofas. Simply click the furniture piece and then click this play icon. It will demonstrate the ability to recline and adjust for each seat selected.

Once you have your beautiful Ekornes Furniture placed, simply click the furniture piece one time. This will open up another design option on the right hand side of the screen that will allow you to select the upholstery option and color. If you have a Stressless Sunrise Recliner and Ottoman item placed in your room and you would prefer Black Paloma Leather with Walnut Stained wood, you can adjust it right on your screen. Click the recliner once and go to the "Leather" option on the right hand side of the screen. Click it once and it will show the 4 Grades of Leather: Batick, Paloma, Cori, & Royalin. Select the Paloma option and then find "Black" about 2 rows down. This will change your recliner on the screen in real time. You can play around and try out various colors and combinations.motion capability of that furniture item. I.e. It will make the recliners recline and the ottomans tilt.

Sofas

You can also use this Design Program to layout your existing room and create a custom Stressless Sectional Sofa. The E200, E40, E300, Arion, Liberty, Paradise, Legend, Wave, & Eldorado Models can be customized into Sectionals. 

Simply click the "Products" Tab next to the "Interior Design" Tab. This will open up a menu and you can click "Sofas" at this point. Then choose the model of your liking and begin to select the components to design your dream sectional or home theater set. As you select the items on the right, you will need to click on the actual image to choose which side of the unit to place your seat. Once completed, you can then customize your upholstery choice with Fabric or Leather, same as the recliners.

Print Report

When you have finished designing, you can print a shopping list right from this program. Once you have completed your room, placed your furniture items and have chosen your upholstery, it's time to click "Print Report" at the bottom of the screen. This will generate a list of the actual items needed with the accurate SKUS to assist you in placing the perfect order at your friendly, authorized retailer of Ekornes and Stressless Items. Click the "Print Report" button at the bottom of the screen and allow the program a moment to generate the list for you. Please note that the more items you have on your page, the longer it will take to generate an accurate list. For example: If you have 1 Stressless Recliner, it will take about 10 seconds to generate the list and SKUS and if you have 1 Sectional Sofa, multiple accessories and recliners, it can take closer to 30-45 seconds.

Once you have this list you are ready! Simply give us a call at 888-4-UNWIND (888-486-9463) and we can have your order processed in a flash and get you the lowest, authorized prices available. You can print your Items & SKUS list or you can save it as a PDF file.

To save your work, you first need to create an account. Click on 'Log in' at the top of the window. You can choose between using your Facebook ID, Google+ or create a new user account with Ekornes. After you have logged in, you will see the 'Save' button at the bottom of the window. If you have saved a design, click on 'Open' in the toolbar at the bottom of the window to open the file.

Ekornes, the manufacturer of Stressless Recliners, has announced they will be imposing a mandatory fee for shipping any of their Stressless or Ekornes Furniture. This will apply to all Authorized Retailers of Ekornes Furniture and Stressless Recliners. The new policy became effective September 1st, 2015. This policy from Ekornes will add a charge to your order for shipping outside of our home states of Mississippi & Tennessee. This only applies to orders of Ekornes Stressless Furniture.

Due to Ekornes' announcement, all authorized retailers will begin charging this shipping fee. You can see what your price is for your items by clicking the leather/wood selection of your choosing and then clicking the "Delivery Options" button just before you add the item to your shopping bag. If you have clicked "Inside Delivery" or "White Glove Delivery", your price should be accurate at the top of the page next to the picture of your Recliner or Furniture item. [The announcement says the shipping fee must be a minimum of 8% of your order total. Guaranteed or Express Delivery - these are our quickest shipping options. These simple devices allow you to further enjoy your already wonderful Ekornes Chair. The Ring itself adds about 1.33" to the Seat Height of your recliner. Just to note: There are also Elevator Rings for the ottomans. These simply slide onto the black pad feet of your ottoman base and raise its height about 1.33". The Elevator Ring is durable, lightweight and easy to install. It is made from the incredibly hard European Beech Wood that is used for your chair's base. The Rings are painted a matte black to ensure ease of coordination. They will simply look like an extension of the Black Swivel Ring underneath the wooden base. At around 1.33 inches, Ekornes' engineers discovered that the angle at which your knee rests will be reduced. This reduces any strain on your knees, thus making it easier to stand from a seated position.

There are 3 sizes available to match up with the 3 sizes of Stressless Recliners. Large, Medium, & Small. If you have a Stressless Vegas Recliner, you would need a Large Elevator Ring. If your recliner is the Stressless Magic Medium, you will be served by the Medium Sized Elevator Ring. In the case you have a Chelsea recliner from Ekornes, you will need the Small Ring. Just make sure you know how many clips you have underneath!

Prior to 2012, Ekornes manufactured 2 different sizes of wooden bases for the 3 chair sizes: The Small/Medium & the Large. Ingenious design allowed them to fit a Small and Medium Seat on a base that had the same diameter on the bottom. The engineers at Ekornes are constantly innovating and announced at the end of 2011, that they would introduce 3 sizes of bases: The Small, the Medium, & the Large. The bases are difficult to tell apart unless you lay the chair on its back and count the Black Plastic Clips that connect the Wooden Base to the Plastic Swivel Ring that touches the floor. If there are 6, your wooden base was produced prior to 2012. If there are 8, your wooden base was produced post 2012.

If you purchased your recliner chair since 2012, most likely you have a base with 8 clips underneath. It is still possible to receive 6 clip styles as they have not been disbanded/eliminated. Ekornes has simply switched to primarily producing 8 Clip Bases from 2012 forwards. Let's look at the measured diameters of the circular rings. This is a secondary way to determine (or at least rule out) the size of your recliner base

The last thing to mention about these fantastic and easy to use accessories, is the ability to "Double-Stack". The ingenious folks at Ekornes thought ahead and knew that one elevator ring might not be enough for everyone. They have designed these rings to safely stack up to 2 rings. It is not recommended to stack more than 2. This would cause an imbalance in the center of gravity leading to a lack of stability as you recline. In order to stack your rings, you will need an Elevator Ring Connector Kit. This attachment kit can be purchased at Unwind.com and is readily stocked for fast shipping and your convenience. Ekornes provides a 5 year warranty on this Connector Kit at no additional cost to you. It is only necessary if you intend to stack Two Elevator Rings together. It includes a Black Swivel Ring and a set of clips to securely attach the top ring to the bottom one. If you order both elevator rings and the attachment kit at the same time, our team of Product Experts can assemble your "Double Stacked Ring Set" prior to shipping, upon request. This will even further simplify the installation/attachment.

Our ever popular Paloma leather grade is going to have a few changes in 2015. The new Stressless Paloma options will now be: Khaki, Stone, Light Grey, Oxford Blue, Black, Sand, Pearl, New Forest, Kitt, Chocolate, Mocca, Brandy, Clementine, Cherry, Indigo, Rock, Taupe, Camel, Brown, Tomato, & Aqua Green. We will be sad to see the following colors eventually be discontinued: Pearl Grey, Tan, New Winered, Cognac, Chili Red, Lilac, Cerise, & Green. If you are seeking these colors and trying to debate whether to "pull the trigger", now is the time. We are told all orders placed prior to 4/30/2015 in these Paloma colors will be honored.

To all you Classic leather fans, it's a sad farewell to this grade of Ekornes' leather. The upside is that Cori grade is a better, improved option. It combines all the original strengths and positive characteristics and improves them! The result is a ultra-durable, beautifully rich leather that emanates color in a multi-tonal fashion.

There will also be many colors discontinued from multiple Stressless Fabric grades: Red & Marine in the Ocean line, Black & Chili Red in Dinamica, Sand/Winered/Dark Blue/Brown Verona will all be leaving, The entire Stella fabric line will soon be discontinued, Mustard/Red/Dark Blue/Brown/Light Brown/Green Luna fabrics, and for Siena: Winered, Marine, & Green have been phased out. One of the best things about Ekornes is that when certain models, items, colors, etc. phase out, they almost always bring in as many fantastic new choices! Starting in 2015, there will be 10 new Fabric Grades, each with their own colors. They are: Karma, Crocus, Calido, Umbra, Iris, Flora, Silva, Molli, Terra, & Ultrasuede™.

To make room for the numerous new arrivals, Ekornes has made the difficult decision to discontinue several models. The Atlantic Recliner and Office Chair, The Pacific Recliner, The Orion and Taurus Model Recliners, The Orion Office Chair, and the Stressless Space and Wizard Sofa series. These models will be officially "off the market" by April 30, 2015. As these models leave, be prepared to see new ones arrive. 

The Stressless Skyline and View Recliner by Ekornes will be available Summer 2015. The Metropolitan Sofa line and Panorama Series will be released at the same time. If the name doesn't give it away, The Metropolitan Sofa and Loveseat will be a matching model for the Metro Recliners. I personally think it looks quite stunning with the Skyline Recliner, as well. The Panorama Sofas and Loveseats are the matching models for the View Recliner. This is huge to Ekornes. Not only are they introducing these fantastic new models, in gorgeous colors, but they are introducing a new Comfort Technology. It's called "BalanceAdapt™". It is not only ultra-comfortable and back-friendly but it features the ability to rock. It will be featured in all of the Skyline, View, Metropolitan, & Panorama models.

The first step is to obtain an approved Leather Conditioner. I repeat, "Find an approved Leather Conditioner ASAP". Leather is a hide. It is a natural upholstery and thus requires some simple upkeep to ensure the maximum longevity and beauty. Our excellent manufacturers and our Product Specialists recommend to apply a leather conditioner to your leathers 1-4 times a year. Want to know a company secret? Our Shipping and Product Prep team will condition your item(s) leather immediately before shipping, for free. When you are placing your order, make sure and ask your Customer Service Rep to put "Free Leather Conditioning" in your order notes to receive this fabulous service. Not only does it moisturize and tend to the leather, but it delays the time until you need to condition the furniture again.

Leather Care Wipe Kit (simpler and easier to use)

Preventative maintenance of your premium, 100% Top-Grain Leathers is important. However, occasionally accidents happen and now you need to know how to clean your leather. Fjords USA has published a small guide to use as suggestions on how best to treat stains based on their experience. Please note: ALWAYS check the color resistance of your leather to a specific cleaning technique or solution on an inconspicuous area of the upholstery. Lay man's terms: Don't start with the headrest; start on a small hidden area of the upholstery to test for the effects of the the chemicals/solutions/techniques you are about to use to remove a stain or spill. We cannot be held liable for any less than desired results that occur from "Home-Remedies". You can also consult an Ekornes Specialist at 888-486-9463. They have a wealth of knowledge about these items on-hand during normal business hours of 8am-5pm CST.

In case this happens to your leather, use this cleaning technique:

A: Use cold water. Then, if needed, treat with a solution of PH neutral soap and water.

B: Treat with PH Neutral Soap and luke warm water. Then, if needed, treat with alcohol, white spirit or stain remover.

C: Treat immediately with PH Neutral soap and luke warm water. Do not let the stain dry in.

D: Use alcohol, stain remover or other commercially available solvent.

E: Break up into pieces and remove carefully. Do not use an iron.

F: Use freeze spray according to directions. May be bought from specialist shops. Note: this may cause damage to Velour Fabrics.

G: Use a white cloth and citric acid solution. (A level dessert spoon of citric acid solution mixed with 100ml water and applied with the cloth.) Work from the edge of the stain towards the center. Afterwards, treat carefully with ammonia.

If you are like me, you aren't one for trying out home remedies. You would much rather buy a box of simple, easy-to-use methods that can safely clean and restore your fine leather furniture. By the time I find, pay for, and figure out how to properly use a "home remedy" I have spent gas, time and energy and I would just be frustrated. :)

A simple cleaning and conditioning will not do the trick. The primary reason everyone loves this chair is because of its comfort. The cushions are slightly more padded than the basic models and slightly less padded than the more premium models (like the Vegas and Magic Recliner). Ekornes manufactures padding in a couple ways. First, they pour the foam directly onto the steel frames of the chairs to form a solid unit. Second, they insert layers of polyester in-between the foam and the upholstery. This not only aids in the longevity of the upholstery, but also increases the comfort because even your cushion has cushioning. :)
