Rain Dance is a lush, beautiful musical experience that is deeply relaxing. From beginning to end, this music takes you on a journey through the seasons of nature and of life, returning you to the stillness of the heart. Rich with the sounds of Celtic harp, classical and acoustic guitars, Indian flutes, and world drums. Rain Dance leaves you feeling whole and complete.
"There's true magic in each one of us, and I write music to honor and support the regions of the heart that choose for loving, no matter what."
Rob Whitesides-Woo's music is characterized by a strong World influence unified by a classical background. In Rob's music, the ancient becomes relevant to the present, and opposites are joined: the refined and the primal, gentleness and passion, simplicity and grandeur.
Rob has formal studies in composition at the University of California in Berkeley, and the California Institute of the Arts, the prestigious school of the performing arts founded by Walt Disney. He has studied privately with Aaron Copeland, Pulitzer Prize composer Mel Powell, and masters musicians ranging from India to the Middle-East.
Rob perceives life as a process of spiritual growth, and continues to systematically explore the dynamics of the human psyche and spirituality. To that purpose he has earned a Masters of Theology degree.
Complimenting his career as a recording artist, Whitesides-Woo has over two hundred films to his credit. Projects have included national TV spots, creating the music and sound design for Nike, and music for the Johnson Space Center Visitors Center.
He is currently developing new music with Celtic Harpist, Laura Gloucester, who also instructs in T'ai Chi and is a 7th degree black belt in Kung Fu. Rob is also deeply involved with developing new artists, passing on his passion for music and spirit.
