If the gas lift on the office chair does not stay in top position, try the following test-

Test the handle:
Press the release handle the opposite way while sitting in the chair. If the gas lift now stays in top position, there is a problem with the release handle adjustment.

To Adjust:
To adjust the release handle you need a 4mm HEX Key (Also known as an Allan key or Umbraco Key). There is a hole in the plastic cover under the seat; there you will find a set screw/grub screw that can be adjusted with the HEX Key.

Turn the screw, anti–clockwise 1⁄2 turn and test the chair, repeat until the chair will hold in position.

To Remove the Cover:
If the problem is not resolved, remove the cover using a Torx 30 Key. The required clearance between release arm and gas lift is 0.5-1mm when release arm is in the neutral position. In the rare instance that it is impossible to adjust the clearance between the release arm and the gas lift, the base has a production error and must be replaced by Ekornes.

Approx. 0.5-1 mm clearance is required when the release arm is in the neutral position.
